Data Quality Audit, Governance Analysis & Analytics Implementation
Our client wanted to implement effective analytics to support its business requirements. They had limited understanding of the quality of enterprise data and the supporting data governance processes that could potentially impact the effectiveness of the analytics developed.
We evaluated data governance, maturity, quality and utilization. We developed a formal internal audit report with findings related to data governance and data quality.
We also prioritized analytics use cases and developed a formal analytics roadmap. We Implemented high and medium priority use cases using Tableau Desktop and Server (using an Agile implementation approach) – 12 use cases with 125 views and 215 analytics (supporting 30 million records – and counting).
Data Quality Analysis and Roadmap
Our client was looking to utilize the vast amount of data it had to help enable their long-term growth objectives. The client’s strategic direction was undermined by a legacy data environment and data culture that inhibits its growth initiatives.
We conducted interviews with key business stakeholders to develop a holistic understanding of the existing challenges facing the client’s data environment. Our team also worked with the client’s IT resources to identify, catalog, and assess ~120 production databases. We defined operational data governance methodologies required to support further growth objectives.
We also developed a comprehensive strategic roadmap including tactical remediation activities, structural enhancements (tech and org), and long-term enablement opportunities. The project resulted increased data governance and greater visibility of data throughout the organization.
Strategic ERP Selection
Our client, a pipe manufacturer, had recently acquired the division of a larger organization which doubled the size of our client. The acquisition agreement included punitive costs if our client remained on the legacy ERP environment past a specified date.
We were engaged by the CEO and board of directors to (a) map current business processes, (b) transform those processes for the consolidated organization, (c) select a strategic software that supported the transformed organization, and (d) manage the selected software vendor to implement the solution.
In addition, we helped manage many of the aspects of business integration, including stakeholder management.
The results of the project included selecting and implementing the enterprise software solution on time, supporting the aggressive timeline expected by the CEO.
Strategic Business System Analysis
Our client's ERP environment was outdated which resulted in inefficient processes and significant business critical information being stored in off-line spreadsheets. This prevented the parent company from obtaining timely, reliable information to make informed business decisions.
We were engaged to evaluate the ability of current system and processes to meet our client's long-term financial and operational goals, identify critical ERP system opportunities to improve accuracy, efficiency, and velocity of financial data, and develop recommendations to enable growth and performance improvement.
The project results included: Identifying and prioritizing process inefficiencies, increasing information transparency, and selecting an ERP solution to support the business for the foreseeable future.
